Which Home Projects Are Worth the Investment?
Thinking about using some of your Christmas gift money to make some home improvements? Wondering what you should do to improve the enjoyment of your home but also its value? With so many things to consider such as design, cost, time, hassle factor, and of course added value to the home, it is no wonder that deciding what home improvements to make on a house can be an extremely difficult decision.
A property's first appeal is from the street view or "curb appeal" and is always critical because homeowners want to provide a good first impression to people viewing their home. As such, some would rate exterior improvement projects as providing the greatest bang for the buck. Home improvement projects such as landscape and hardscape, new windows and doors, and a new paint job can reap the highest return in value. Several interior projects also make the list (see graphic to the left) such as remodeling the kitchen, adding a bedroom or bathroom, and in general expanding a home with a new room addition.
