Your vacation home is your safe haven to get away from the daily grind. A place where you escape the stresses of everyday life to walk on the beach, take in a round of golf, build a snowman with your grandchildren, or simply take a nap on the porch swing.

You may have thought about renting your home for a variety of reasons. Maybe you haven’t used it as much as you planned and don’t want it to sit empty. Maybe you just need to offset the costs of owning it. Or maybe you simply want to share your amazing vacation home with others. Once you decide you want to move forward and rent your vacation home, the next step is to decide whether you want to do-it-yourself, or hire a property manager

There are so many moving parts related to renting a vacation home from setting the rates, determining deposit policies, drafting rental agreements, accepting credit card payments, and handling cleaning schedules between rentals.  Because all of this can be quite overwhelming, we recommend leaving vacation home renting to professionals and hiring a property manager. Before you make your property manager choice, however, verify that the company’s staff will — provide online booking capability on their company website; advertise the property both locally and internationally; interview and screen potential guests to make sure they are suitable; handle all aspects of rental agreements including the handling of rental payments; inspect the property before and after each rental and do an inventory count; welcome the guests into your property; organize repairs and maintenance, and provide receipts for all expenditures.

At North County Property Group, for example, we follow the steps in the above graphic "Our Steps to Maximize Your Income" to get your property rented fast and efficiently as well as assure that your property is well cared for and secure.  We do everything in blue, you get the green!  A competent property management firm can add significant value to your investment.
